About The Bee

Rochdale
Join the Rochdale Spelling Bee We are delighted to welcome you to the Rochdale Spelling Bee which is open to all primary schools across the Rochdale Borough. We want all schools to take part and help Rochdale lead the way and work to develop a Greater Manchester Spelling Bee in the future. What will I have to do? We’ve created this website so that all schools find it easy and manageable to host a Spelling Bee.

In the resources section of this website we have created: Rochdale Spelling Bee Booklet. This contains sets of words to use in practice and in the competition Guidelines on how to run a Spelling Bee Timelines of The Rochdale Spelling Bee competition Template letters for you to use to inform parents about the competition Posters to display around school Images to use on your website, social media to show you taking part in The Rochdale Spelling Bee

What words will the children have to spell? To ensure that the competition is fair for all children in all schools, everyone will be able to access a copy of the Rochdale Spelling Bee Booklet via this website. The booklet contains three sets of words. Children will need to learn the words in the booklet, but there will also be words that they might not have learnt before, but have the same spelling patterns, when they take part in the competitions.

There are also some great free interactive websites online where children can practise their spelling skills so it’s easy for schools to embed into classrooms and homework. Get your school involved – email Clare McGreevy CMcGreevy@lowerplace.rochdale.sch.uk Deadline to register for the 2019 Rochdale Spelling Bee is 7 February 2019.
