Lowerplace HRE Parent Survey
Dear Parents and Carers,
Health and Relationships Education Policy Consultation
Welcome to our HRE page. I hope you all have a very enjoyable summer.
Thank you to those of you that have signed up to be part of our Parent Working Group, to work with me to design the Relationships Curriculum that will be delivered in school this year. If you have not signed up but would like to, please contact the school office.
At our parents open evening in May, the following concerns were raised:
- The appropriate age to teach the children the correct names for body parts.
- The appropriate age to teach the children about puberty.
- The appropriate age to teach the children about reproduction.
- The school’s use of ‘Stonewall’ resources to teach the children about different families and relationships. It was clarified at the parent’s meeting that school does not teach children about different families. School simply acknowledges that all of the families and individuals that make up our school community are of equal value.
As a working group, our first task is to collate parent/carer feedback on the curriculum as it is now and to consider the suggested changes.
Please could you complete our online survey, found below, to help us understand your feelings about the curriculum and to consider your suggestions for improving it.
Just to be clear…we are not teaching this aspect of the curriculum until after the consultation period and this is only the first stage of the consultation process.
Thanks in advance
