Headteacher’s Welcome

Hello!  On behalf of all the children, staff and Governors, I would like to warmly welcome you to the webiste of Lowerplace Primary School.  I hope you will find it interesting, informative and a way of sharing some of our special moments.I started very recently as Lowerplace’s Headteacher on Monday, 20th April 2020 and am very excited to have joined Lowerplace. I can already see how much the staff care about the children and how hard they work to do the best for them. I have been very busy finding out about the systems that have been put in place to support your children to carry on learning during the school closure and to meet with staff about how we will continue to develop Lowerplace.

To share a little bit about myself, I have been teaching for over 20 years, in London, Malaysia and Cambridge, Lowerplace is my second headship. I have moved from being a headteacher of an inner-city school in Cambridge in order to return to my North West roots and be closer to family. My husband and two cats will be following me once the restrictions on travel have been lifted. Cambridge is known for being a very beautiful city but very flat. I am excited to be returning to a hillier landscape. The views on my drive to and from work, in the sunshine, have been awe inspiring. One area of school that I believe is key to success is communication between home and school. This is more challenging in the current situation, but I hope that we will be able to further develop our home learning system further in the coming weeks to aid our communication and support our children in their learning.

I am really looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming months. This will take a little longer than usual due to the unusual circumstances we find ourselves in. If you do see me, please introduce yourself to me.

Until then, please stay home and stay safe.

Warmest regards,

Ms Karen Martin
