In the Early Years at Lowerplace we are passionate about ensuring that every child is supported and encouraged to become independent, curious, enthusiastic and successful individuals.

We provide children with an inviting and enabling environment.  We utilise both our indoor and outdoor areas to ensure that we are maximising children's opportunities to learn in ways that best suit their unique learning styles.

We want all children to enjoy their time in EYFS, make a positive start to school life and to achieve all they can?

There are a number of ways you can help your child get off to a flying start.

  • Always be on time.
  • Good attendance
  • Home reading
  • Point out numbers and letters in the environment.
  • Count at every opportunity - walking up/down steps, how many red cars can you see? etc
  • Talk to your child about the world around them.  What do they notice, see, hear, smell?
  • Ask your child what he / she has been doing in school.

Parental Involvement

We believe that parents and / or carers play a vital role in their child’s education. We will support your efforts at home and provide opportunities for you to engage in your child’s education in school.

Reading

Reading can be a special time for you and your child. Research has shown that reading for as little as 5 or 10 minutes each day can help support your child’s educational development.

Story Time in Reception - Reading is a special time at Lowerplace, we enjoy nothing more that to get our blankets out, put the log fire on, drink some flavoured milk and listen to our favourite stories.

Children get to choose which story we read by voting for their favourite book in the morning using cubes.
