A visit from the Mayor

Yesterday, we were delighted to host a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale. Councillor Ian Duckworth (a former pupil of Lowerplace) and his wife Christine were invited into school by Mr Ghulam Shazad, a governor at Lowerplace. They were welcomed to school by Mr Johnson and Mrs Bi.

Mrs Bi and Mr Shazad then escorted the Mayor and Mayoress around a full tour of the school. They experienced a typical Lowerplace morning, including a computing lesson in class 2B with Mr Hall where children were making their own games on iPads, a maths lesson in 3C with Miss Coomber and a visit to the KS2 library.

They also dropped in on all the classes in KS2, including 6A and 4C.

Before they left the Mayor and Mayoress were given a sneak preview of our brand new Phiz Lab by Mr Lowe and got the opportunity to help out our award winning catering team in the kitchen!

We would like to thank the Mayor and Mayoress for their visit to Lowerplace. We hope it was a worthwhile visit and that they enjoyed seeing the progress the school continues to make.

Lowerplace Children to Sing at Rugby World Cup!

rugby league world cup

We are so pleased to announce that a group of children from Lowerplace have been chosen to sing live at the Rugby League World Cup 2013.

They will be singing a range of sporting songs and the national anthem at Spotland Stadium on the 28th October 2013. The performance will also be broadcast live on the BBC. This is a brilliant opportunity for the children to perform to a larger audience as well as developing their musical and teamwork skills.

Family and friends are also entitled to 50% off the ticket price; please see the letter that was sent home last week.

We hope you will give the children your support by watching on the day.
