Is your child due to start primary school in September?
Children born between 1st September 2012 and 31st August 2013 are due to start primary school in September 2017.
For more information about Lowerplace Primary, please have a look through our website! You’ll find a majority of the information in the menus above.
You should have received a letter from Rochdale Council’s Pupil Services Team to let you know that your child has been given a place at Lowerplace from September 2017. If you have not yet received that letter, please contact the council on 01706 925982.
You should also have received a letter from Lowerplace welcoming you to school. If you have not received this letter, please either call us on 01706 648174 (option 3) or pop into the Infant office (in the Charter Street building) for another copy. We sent the letters to the home address that was listed on the initial school application, so if you have moved in the last nine months, we may not have the correct address. Please let us know if you have moved so that we can update our records.
We will be holding an Open Evening on Wednesday 24th May 2017, to give parents a chance to look around the school and meet our staff, as well as some of the services that support school. Some of the information we’ll be providing will include day-to-day things like Breakfast Club, uniform, school meals and packed lunches, attendance and holidays; as well as more specialist areas like Special Educational Needs and School Health, as well as the adult learning opportunities we can offer.
Rochdale is very keen to make the move to and between schools as easy as possible, so every summer all the schools in Rochdale take part in Transition Day, where each year group ‘moves up’ to the next year group (and Year 6 have a chance to look at high school!). This year it’s on 4th July and your child will be able to come into school and spend time in their classroom, meet their teachers and classmates, and get a taste for what school life is all about.
When your child starts at Lowerplace, they will attend for half-days for the first 9 days (from Tuesday 5th September to Friday 15th September). We have found this is the easiest way for them to transition from home and nursery to the more structured environment at school. We will let you know whether they will be attending the morning or afternoon sessions. They will not be eating lunch at school for this first two weeks.
To find out more about Lowerplace Primary School, please look through our drop-down menus at the top of the page. You can also have a look at our class blogs: The Reception class blog can be found under ‘EYFS blog’. Year 1 and 2 blogs are part of Key Stage 1, and Years 3 to 6 are Key Stage 2.
