Congratulations Dream Big Sports!

We’re happy to share some exciting news about our in-school sports provider Dream Big Sports – they have won NEW BUSINESS OF THE YEAR at the Rochdale Business Awards 2017! It’s a real privilege for Lowerplace to work with dedicated professionals, and even better when their work is recognised outside of school too! Congratulations Dream Big Sports!

A message from them is included below!

On Friday evening TeamDreamBIG dusted down our tuxedos and attended the 7th annual Rochdale Business Awards Ceremony which took place at Rochdale Town Hall. It was an honour to be in attendance and even more so to be shortlisted for the prestigious accolade; New Business of the Year 2017.

As far as evenings go it is one that we personally will not forget for a long time to come. We are very proud to say that Dream Big Sports Ltd were crowned Rochdale’s New Business Of The Year for 2017.

The team may have been in attendance and received award, however, the service we provide is not possible without the support of our partners whether that be in education, recruitment, business to business or support from the residents of Rochdale.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of everyone at Dream Big Sports Ltd. for the invaluable support you have provided us so far. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in the borough of Rochdale.

We are sure that our organisation, with the positive partnership we have, will continue to serve the young people of Rochdale for many years to come. Once again, we would like to express our sincere gratitude towards you, your staff and organisation for continually supporting our work.

Best wishes,
Dale Harris & Dillan O’Connor
Co-Directors, Dream Big Sports Ltd

Gold for Lowerplace!

We’re proud to report that Lowerplace has achieved Gold in the Sainsbury’s School Games Mark for the 2016-17 school year – the second year in a row!

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

With so many of our children competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

We look forward to applying once again in 2018!

Sports Day – postponed until Tuesday 18th July

Based on today’s weather and the forecast for tomorrow, we have made the decision to postpone Sports Day.

We will now be holding Sports Day 2017 on Tuesday 18th July and as usual the day will be split by year groups.

Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 will compete in the morning, starting at 9:15am

Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 will compete in the afternoon, starting at 1:05pm

We apologise for the change in plans, and hope that you’ll still be able to join us on the 18th for a day of sporting excellence!

Don’t forget, with all the activities going on in the run-up to Christmas, our after school clubs will have their last sessions this week (week ending Friday 9th December). New letters for next term’s clubs went out yesterday, so please complete the reply slip if your child would like to join any of the after-school clubs on offer after the Christmas holidays!

As always, please ensure that your child has the appropriate PE kit with them for the day (white t-shirt, shorts and pumps) as they will be unable to participate if they do not have the correct clothing.

We hope to see you there for this special day!
