The School Health Team visited Lowerplace yesterday to administer the nasal spray flu vaccine to those children whose parents had given permission. They all went home with a certificate to say they’ve had it.
The vaccine is recommended for all children aged two to four, as well as children in Reception, Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 of primary school. If your child didn’t have the vaccine in school, please speak to your pharmacist or GP to arrange their vaccination.
IntraHealth have given us information on the Live Fluenz Vaccine that was administered:
Like all medicines, Fluenz can cause side effects, but not everyone gets them:
Very Common: runny/stuffy nose, reduced appetite, tiredness, headache
Common: fever, muscle aches
Uncommon: rash, nosebleed, allergic reactions
If your child has a mild fever following the Fluenz vaccine, this is a normal reaction to a vaccination. If you have significant concerns please contact your GP/Out Of Hours Service
You can find more information about the children’s flu vaccine at the NHS website HERE.
We have received the following information from the School Crossing Patrol Service:School Crossing 20.11.17
We’re joining in the national fundraising for BBC Children In Need this Friday, inviting children to bring their teddies into school to join them for lessons! All teddies will be going home again at the end of the day.
After a little bit of mixed-up communication, we have decided that it WILL be a non-uniform day, so please come to school wearing your own clothes – and don’t forget your Pudsey and Blush ears if you have them!
We’re asking for a donation of £1 to the Children In Need campaign, or an advent calendar that we can pass along to Rochdale Food Bank.
Children In Need will accept the old £1 coins so have a look down the back of the sofa!
Thank you so much for your support!
We’re happy to share some exciting news about our in-school sports provider Dream Big Sports – they have won NEW BUSINESS OF THE YEAR at the Rochdale Business Awards 2017! It’s a real privilege for Lowerplace to work with dedicated professionals, and even better when their work is recognised outside of school too! Congratulations Dream Big Sports!
A message from them is included below!
On Friday evening TeamDreamBIG dusted down our tuxedos and attended the 7th annual Rochdale Business Awards Ceremony which took place at Rochdale Town Hall. It was an honour to be in attendance and even more so to be shortlisted for the prestigious accolade; New Business of the Year 2017.
As far as evenings go it is one that we personally will not forget for a long time to come. We are very proud to say that Dream Big Sports Ltd were crowned Rochdale’s New Business Of The Year for 2017.
The team may have been in attendance and received award, however, the service we provide is not possible without the support of our partners whether that be in education, recruitment, business to business or support from the residents of Rochdale.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of everyone at Dream Big Sports Ltd. for the invaluable support you have provided us so far. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in the borough of Rochdale.
We are sure that our organisation, with the positive partnership we have, will continue to serve the young people of Rochdale for many years to come. Once again, we would like to express our sincere gratitude towards you, your staff and organisation for continually supporting our work.
