Meet all the staff: Kingsway (Junior) Hall – 3.30pm
Visit classrooms: 3.40pm – 4.30pm

We hope you can make it to our parent/carer drop-in event on Monday 26th September. This will be an opportunity to meet your child’s class teacher and find out about some of the routines and what is expected of your child. You will also get a chance to find out what your child is learning this half term.

After you have met with the staff team in the Kingsway Hall at 3:30pm, you will be able to drop into your child’s classroom before 4:30pm. You will be able to visit more than one classroom if you have more than one child in school. We hope to see you later!

Don’t forget, if you can’t make it tonight, you can always arrange to meet with your child’s class teacher on an alternative date!

30th September – Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning!

2016-macmillan-logo

On Friday 30th September we will be joining in on the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

We will be serving coffee /juice in our Key Stage 1 Hall (Charter Street) from 9.15 till 10.30am and there will be a cake stall where we are asking parents and staff to bring in cakes to sell to raise more money. Donation of cakes can be sent in all this week to the office orclass teacher.

At break time we will be selling biscuits made by our amazing team in the School Kitchen to the children at 30p each. This will also make them feel part of our amazing support for helping people affected by cancer.

Last year we had a wonderful response and it was a very enjoyable morning. Please come along and help even more people living with cancer by making this our Biggest Coffee Morning yet!

School Photograph Day – Monday 26th September 2016

school-photo-day-sept-2016

Our school photographers, Braiswicks, will be coming to school on Monday 26th September to take pupil’s individual pictures. They will be starting at 9:00am and will be here for the morning so it is very important that your child is on time to go in for their picture at the same time as the rest of their class. Please make sure your child is wearing the correct uniform:
• Grey skirt or trousers
• White or pale blue blouse, shirt or polo shirt
• Navy school jumper or cardigan
• Sensible black shoes – no trainers, heels or Ugg-style boots

Pre-School Photographs
Parents who would like to have their child’s photograph taken with a pre-school sibling must be at school for 8:30am. You do not need to notify us in advance if you want a picture with a pre-school sibling. Photographs will be taken in the Key Stage 2 (Junior) Hall. Your child who attends Lowerplace will still have an individual photo taken for school record purposes.

Sibling Group Pupil Photographs
We will also arrange for a group picture to be taken with all siblings (not cousins) who attend Lowerplace – this photograph will be taken during school time.

As soon as the proof cards arrive in school they will be distributed to parents and you will have two weeks to decide if you would like to order the photographs.

Numbers Count at Lowerplace

Miss Ogden was very excited with this week’s post – our certificate arrived that shows we’re accredited to deliver Edge Hill University’s ‘Every Child Counts’ Mathematics programme, which raises achievement through a range of interventions to support children who struggle with maths and developing teaching standards to sustain high achievement for all children.

Miss Ogden (on the right, with our new Deputy Headteacher Mrs Lawton) is our accredited Numbers Count teacher, and delivers the Numbers Count programme in Key Stage One. Numbers Count provides targeted use of the Pupil Premium, supports the new National Curriculum for Mathematics, raises mathematical attainment for the lowest achievers, creates an ‘in-house specialist’ mathematics teacher who helps to raise standards for all learners and provides detailed evidence of progress and impact.
