Non-Uniform Day on Friday 28th November

We’re having a Non-Uniform Day tomorrow, Friday the 28th November 2014.

We’re asking for a contribution of a bottle of something for our Bottle Stall at the Winter Fair. It can be a bottle of anything – bubble bath, non-alcoholic drinks, perfume, ketchup, shampoo, cooking oil, nail polish, whatever you have to hand! Please don’t send alcoholic drinks – we don’t have a licence to sell it.

We would also welcome any donations of crisps or sweets and bric-a-brac for our stalls, for example new or used toys, books, games, DVDs, CDs and soft toys which are in good condition. Please bring any items you wish to donate into school as soon as you can.

Thank you!

Reception Open Day

Reception open day

We’re holding an Open Day for parents of pupils who want to join our Reception classes in September 2015. There are two sessions on Wednesday 26th November, one at 10:00am and one at 4:00pm. Each session will last about an hour and will start in the Infant building on Charter Street.

If you have a child who will be starting school in September 2015, please come along for a session, where you’ll have a tour of the whole school and the chance to speak to the staff.

If you know anyone who has applied for a Reception place at Lowerplace, but doesn’t have a child here yet, please let them know about the Open Day – we love to show off our fantastic school!

You’re very welcome to bring your child with you, so they can have a look at their new school, but if you’d rather come along without them, that’s fine too.

Donations wanted for the Winter Fair

Winter Fair 2014

Dear Parents and Carers

We’re preparing to have our annual Winter Fair on Thursday 18th December. This is always a very popular event and we hope that you’ll help us make it a success again this year!

We would welcome any donations of bric-a-brac for our stalls, for example new or used toys, books, games, DVDs, CDs and teddies which are in good condition. Please bring any items you wish to donate into school as soon as you can.

Thank you, Mrs Kabir

Pudsey’s little helpers have been busy this afternoon, counting and recounting all the money we’ve been raising for Children In Need this week. We’re so proud to tell you all that we’ve raised an astonishing amount this year!

Lowerplace School’s children, parents, carers and staff have raised an incredible

Pudsey total 2014

for BBC Children In Need 2014.

Thank you so much to everyone for your support!

“Pyjamas for Pudsey” for Children in Need!

we support children in need

The children and staff at school are enjoying wearing their pyjamas for Pudsey today! We all donated either £1 which we’ll give to the BBC Children In Need appeal, or an advent calendar for us to take to the Rochdale Food Bank who provide help to families in crisis all over Rochdale.

We’ve also been selling Pudsey keyrings and wristbands. We’ll be so proud to announce our final fundraising total in a few hours time – as usual, all of our children, parents, carers and staff have been so generous!

Key Stage Two library opening after school

school library

Last year opening the school library after school was a huge success and was thoroughly enjoyed by both parents and children alike – so it is back by popular demand!

We are once again giving parents and carers the opportunity to visit the library with your child for 30 minutes after school in which they will be allowed to take a book home to read with you. There are set days for each year group.

From week beginning 17th November:

Year 3 – Monday 3:20pm – 3:50pm
Year 4 – Tuesday 3:20pm – 3:50pm
Year 5 – Wednesday 3:20pm – 3:50pm
Year 6 – Thursday 3:20pm – 3:50pm

Each child MUST be accompanied by an adult as this is the time for you and your child to read together.

Both staff and children are very proud and excited about our library. We are looking forward to sharing it with parents once again and hope to make it you and your child’s favourite place in school!
