Supporting Read Write Inc

I had a great morning in reception earlier today. When the children were being dropped off one of the parents asked me how she could support her child with letter formation at home. A great question which deserves a full reply.

At Lowerplace we follow the Read Write Inc for early years literacy. This programme includes phonics, literacy, language and spelling. This is a scheme developed by Ruth Miskin and is supplied through Oxford University Press.

There are lots of resources online you can use to support your child’s learning. Here are some useful links:

Half-term Holiday Club

We are sorry to inform parents that there will be no Holiday Club for this half-term break. The Extended Schools hub that we are part of organise the holiday clubs and due to staffing levels they are not able to run one this half term.

Parents have been asking for some time now for the facility to pay dinner money online. We’re happy to announce that we invested in a new system which will enable that to happen: ParentMail+Pay.

As well as allowing online payments, ParentMail makes it very easy for school to communicate reliably with parents: via email or text, and even by sending school letters and announcements electronically (so there’ll be much less paper coming home in the children’s bookbags!). You’ll also be able to check your child’s dinner money balance online, so you’ll always know where you’re up to.

Once you’ve registered you can access all the letters we’ve ever sent via ParentMail, and view the school diary, so you always know what’s coming up. We personalise the diary to your child – so you’ll only see the events and after-school clubs that they’re involved in. If you have more than one child, they’ll be linked together in ParentMail so you can check everything by logging on once. If you have an iPhone, you can download the free ParentMail app from iTunes. ParentMail can be used on any device with an internet connection.

We sent registration letters out to parents at the start of term, if you haven’t yet registered please do so as soon as possible. If your registration code no longer works, please let your child’s class teacher or the office know, we can then generate a new code for you.

You can access the ParentMail site by clicking here.
